Over at Tina Brown’s new The Daily Beast, named after the newspaper in Evelyn Waugh’s “Scoop,” Bill Clinton is recommending three books that help explain the Wall Street bailout, beginning with Michael Heller’s “Gridlock Economy…” He’s one of the “smart people” recommending various escapist paths on a day when the Dow is diving. Eric Idle’s picks? Dickens and Michael Chabon.
