NBCC Good Reads 3 [The Long Tail] Laura Miller Recommends

by admin | May-15-2008

Former NBCC board member and Salon co-founder Laura Miller’s picks for the NBCC Good Reads Spring 2008 list, recommendations by NBCC members, awards winners and finalists:

I have a fiction recommendation: “Resistance” by Owen Sheers. A tense, but beautifully written and mournful alternative history novel set in a remote farming village in Nazi-occupied Wales.

Nonfiction: “The Ten-Cent Plague” by David Hajdu A cultural history of the hysteria surrounding children and comic books in the 1950s, and the influence of the scare on the burgeoning youth counterculture.—Laura Miller
