Report from Minneapolis NBCC Reading, Video Coming

by Jane Ciabattari | Nov-04-2010

National Book Critics Circle awards winner in criticism Eula Biss, NBCC criticism finalist (and NBCC board member) Stephen Burt, NBCC  fiction finalist Marlon James, and Graywolf editor Jeff Shotts drew an enthusiastic crowd of 125 to the Minneapolis Central library on November 3, with readings from their award-worthy work and a conversation about the future of criticism moderated by Shotts.  Details here.

NBCC member Linda White reports, "a GREAT event! We had a great crowd, literally erupted into applause a couple times. And those authors... well, needless to say, they knew their stuff. Great discussion about criticism, Jeff asked some very good questions. You will not believe Stephen Burt's answer to What should a book review do? You could make a poster out of that!"

Watch this space for video in a few days, including answers to the question, "What should a book review do?"
