Run for the NBCC Board: Deadline for Candidate Statements December 7

by Admin | Nov-21-2018

The NBCC is holding elections to fill 8 open seats on the board, for the term beginning March 2019. Board members serve three-year terms and participate in the judging of our annual book awards.

If you would like to run for the board, please submit a candidate statement no longer than 300 words outlining your qualifications and motivation for running. Tell us about your experience and point of view as a critic, and also incorporate answers to these two questions:

1. Briefly describe the types of books you like to engage with as a critic. Do you have experience in any particular genres (poetry, fiction, nonfiction), and do you feel you can bring expertise to the board in any specific subject area?

2. In addition to reading several dozen books for our annual awards, NBCC board members assume various administrative duties within the organization, ranging from note-taking to event planning to social media posting to website management and design. Do you have any experience or strength in any area that might help the board in this way?

Email your candidate statement to The deadline for receiving candidate statements will be 5 p.m. EST Friday, December 7.

Ballots will be sent to voting members via Survey Monkey on Dec. 10, and voting will remain open until 5 pm EST Jan. 4. We will announce results on the 7rh.

Please feel free to send any questions to the email address and one of us will get back to you as soon as we are able.
