Two 2008 NBCC Finalists among New Guggenheim Fellows
by Eric Banks | Apr-10-2009
Congratulations to Annette Gordon-Reed and Andrew X. Pham, both of whom were named this week as 2009 Fellows by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. Gordon-Reed’s The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family was a 2008 NBCC finalist in biography (click here to read board member Elizabeth Taylor’s “30 Books/30 Days” essay on the book). Pham’s The Eaves of Heaven: A Life in Three Wars was nominated as a finalist in autobiography/memoir. (Board member Rigoberto González’s “30 Books/30 Days” thoughts on the book can be found here.)
