Welcome to Housing Works bookstore in SoHo

by David Varno | Jan-24-2009

Welcome to Housing Works bookstore in SoHo, host to the 2008 Awards nominations. I’m at a table beside the winding stairs leading up to the balcony, where the announcements will be made. Most of our announcers are here—-Jayne Anne Philips, Harriet Washington, Sam Anderson, Mary Jo Bang, Blake Bailey—-we’re just waiting for Alex Ross, as the board is preparing to hand over their lists. The floor is filling in, particularly around the wine and homemade bread pudding. I’m here with Marcela Valdes, who graciously surrendered her laptop for the use of our other live-blogger, Maureen McLane, who will be with me shortly.
