The month of June kicks off Reading the World. As part of this project, the NBCC has asked writers from around the globe to recommend a book from beyond these shores. We asked former NBCC finalist Aleksandar Hemon, author of “Nowhere Man”and the story collection “The Question of Bruno,” what he had to recommend. He came back with this recommendation forDanilo Kis' “Garden, Ashes.”
“Garden, Ashes by Danilo Kis. Danilo Kis is one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. Garden, Ashes is beautiful and important, a story of a mad, prophetic father caught up in horrible history.”
