What is the writer's role in society, and the writer's power to effect change? That's one of the questions Professor Nadine Strossen of New York University Law School will explore as she moderates a PEN sponsored panel on Monday night:
What: “Who Will Speak for the Child: An Evening of Literature and Law.”

Deborah Ellis, an award-winning writer who has written extensively about Afghanistan today–both the young people, as written about in her four-part series about people living in refugee camps, and adults. She donated most of her royalties to “Women for Women in Afghanistan” and UNICEF.
Uzodinma Iweala, award-winning author of Beasts of No Nation.
Walter Dean Myers, the author of Dope-Sick, Amini and Odette, and Sunrise Over Fallujah, has written about war, race, and violence. He has won the Coretta Scott King Award five times.
Jonathan Todres, associate professor, Georgia State University Law School.
The event, which includes a reception, is free and open to the public.
