Every year the National Book Critics Circle elects eight critics from within its ranks to serve on our board. It was a squeaker election this year, but it was definitive. Here are our eight new board members. They include a former NBCC president, a poet, two prominent blogger/critics (one of whom also writes children's books and poetry), two returning board members, a novelist and “wild man” critic, as well as a former winner of the Balakian prize for criticism. Congratulations to all of them — and thanks for everyone for running, and to those who voted:
